Aegir Havbruk AS was established in January
2001. The establishment was initiated by a new Norwegian law
that was opening for sea ranching activities with lobsters. A
dedicated license gives exclusive rights for the license
holder to catch the lobster within the area.
Since inception the Company has worked with
methods and technical solutions that can be used for lobster sea
ranching activity. An advanced and innovative system, Lobster
Settling SystemTM, was patented in the spring of 2004 and has
since been benefiting from yearly upgrades.
Aegir Havbruk was the first company that
obtained and actuated a sea ranching license in Norway. The
large scale enhancement project in the sea-ranch started in
2006.
Fishing trials in 2010 showed very promising
results: the population increased by 6 to 8 times compared to
the start of the project.
